* Christine Counsell (“Time for a new crusade”, Teacher magazine, February 17) asks a vital question: how can we cover history in as little as 50 minutes a week, especially where key stage 3 is condensed into two years?

Those who wish students learned more about “Our Island Story”, not to mention the background to the modern world, might care to address this issue, keeping in mind that “those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”.
