Bright sparks:‘Zap!’ is a humorous guide with a serious message alerting children to the dangers of electricity. Commissioned by power supplier Eastern, and written and illustrated by Quentin Blake, it uses brightly-coloured, quirky characters to highlight the potentially deadly consequences of such foolhardy actions as poking knives into toasters, flying kites near power lines and playing near substations. The book is not available in shops, but schools can order free copies from Eastern’s education unit. Tel: 0800 526671
