New clubs and classes at this centre include a music technology club and a percussion club for seven to 14-year-olds, pound;12 and pound;5 respectively, and a Saturday Musical Madness Club, 9.45am-1.45pm, for ages eight to 14, pound;15, which includes music technology, singing, composition, percussion, drama, dance, keyboards and violin. Existing classes include violin, keyboard and guitar, music appreciation for ages three to six and the Bush Kids Choir for age seven upwards. Money will be available to offer 32 subsidised places.

CHAMPIONING SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOLS: CITIZENSHIP IN ACTION

This conference at De Montfort Hall, Leicester will aim to reduce school run congestion and encourage pupils to try walking and cycling.

Representatives from the Leicester Youth Council and the UK Youth Parliament are chairing the sessions. Speakers include: Stephen Twigg MP, parliamentary under secretary of state for schools; Sally Dowler (mother of Milly) on personal safety, and a student delegation from Massachusetts and California, where pupils are attempting to introduce a system similar to the UK’s Safe Routes to Schools. UK students can join in online discussions and vote on a website.
