SPLASH: UNILEVER INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS ART PROJECT

School children aged 5-18 are invited to create works of art - paintings, sculptures or even small installations - on the theme of our relationship with water by October 17. One piece of art from each country will be selected to display at an evening exhibition at Tate Modern in December.

Trestle Theatre Company courses at Trestle Arts Base, Russet Drive, St Albans, Hertfordshire, 10.30am-5pm. The first covers such techniques as “hot-seating”, characterisation, improvisation and using mask as a tool for theatre and social development. The second explores presentation techniques and provides ideas for encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own work and co-operate with each other. SUMMER STORYTELLERS COMPETITION

Young people aged 8-12 and 13-16 are invited to cast their minds back to their summer holiday escapades and submit an entertaining story of up to 500 words to the www.britain.tv website by October 31. Prizes include DVD players, sports and music vouchers and books for the overall winner’s school.
