Theatre director and drama consultant David Farmer is leading workshops on Drama Games and Voice, and Drama Games and Techniques. The first will be held at Moving Arts Base, Islington, London, and the latter at Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield.

The magic of maths

March 9 and 23 Discover the mechanics of the boomerang, the intriguing maths of juggling and much more at the Maths Inspiration shows. Panellists, who include writer and lecturer Rob Eastaway, will be improvising for a minute on any topic the audience suggests. Respective venues: Greenwich Theatre, London SE10, and the Reardon Smith lecture theatre, Cardiff. Seat price: pound;5 (one adult free per 10 students).

Design competition

The Stoneguard Phoenix Awards competition for cemetery design challenges entrants to design a site, taking into account the spirituality of place, practicalities of the unusual application of land use, the impact of memorials, possible problems of space shortage, and grave reuse, hard landscaping and planting. The Kielder Challenge is an annual event which brings together teams of four able-bodied and four disabled children, aged 13-16, to work together to solve environmental education challenges. The disabled children should include two wheelchair users. The heats are from April to September, with the final held in Kielder Forest, Northumbria.

Become a film-maker

Each year, 100 short films made by people aged under 21 are shown at a film festival at the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television, Bradford, October 13-14. Co-operative Young Film-Makers is inviting entries, which can be on any subject. Workshops are also available.
