(Photograph) - Pupils at Calder primary in Motherwell get to grips with the euro as they prepare for a visit today (Friday) by Jack McConnell, the First Minister, to launch a teaching pack on Britain’s most delicate political issue.
There were moves on a similar front this week with the launch of a Scottish Centre for Financial Education, designed to improve knowledge of finance among primary and secondary pupils, led by the Scottish Executive, Learning and Teaching Scotland and the Royal Bank of Scotland. Its first move is to issue 25 copies of a special CD-Rom to every secondary school. Called “Facing Up To Finance”, it is for use by pupils in S3 and S4.
The director of the new centre is to be Jim Lally, formerly principal teacher of business education at Musselburgh Grammar.
