Keir Sim, head of the school of business, said: "Our aim is to provide employers and agencies, which have to spend a lot of money in training their workforces from scratch, with people who already have more advanced skills."
FURTHER EDUCATION is responding to the boom in call centres, which are expected to employ up to 37,000 in Scotland within a few years. Edinburgh's Telford College has opened a training centre sponsored by BT Scotland. Students will follow a new course leading to a Scottish Qualifications Authority certificate, called introduction to call centre skills. They will role-play as customers and operators, and learn computing and telephone skills.
