The outgoing chairman of the Sports Council for Wales, Philip Carling, said education must play its part in getting the nation fit and healthy. Mr Carling, who will step down in early 2010, argued that the SCW and the Department for Culture, Welsh Language and Sport cannot shoulder the burden of improving the nation’s health. He called for significant changes in the way PE is taught in some schools.
