I must protest about the serious and unwarranted misrepresentation of BT CampusWorld in an article headed “Opening the future” (TES, January 5). Far from being “unimpressed”, the more than 3,500 people who attended our roadshows up and down the UK last term thought the content of the service “wonderful” and “very impressive” - to quote the most frequently used words in the evaluation sheets completed by attendees.

I point this out not because of any slight on BT (none of whose employees has created any of the content of CampusWorld), but on behalf of the many teachers, advisers and education consultants who have spent a great deal of time creating CampusWorld’s thousands of pages of classroom-ready materials, curriculum-focused activities and other useful resources.

If CampusWorld consisted of merely “a number of BT services and a selection from the Internet”, I doubt we would have processed more than 1,500 customers in the first 12 weeks of its existence, nor maintained that rate into the new year.
