Can they fix it?

In a quiet corner of The TES online staffroom, the suffering of design and technology teachers is being revealed for the first time.

It started with a teacher using the evocative pseudonym "Lurch" who complained of being the school odd-job man. The response was overwhelming, as his peers told of being used to fix spectacles and shoes and decorate the school stage. But are they about to mutiny? "Cutting padlocks off lockers, mending zips, repairing stools from science labs. These are some of the things I have been asked to do in the past but refuse to do now on principle. We are a technology department, not 'bodge it and fix it guys'."

The revolution starts here.
