A 17-year-old who carried out post-graduate-level research into cancer treatment has won an international prize for his work.

Gurjit Singh Sidhu, from St John’s High School, Dundee, impressed judges at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, Arizona, with his project testing equipment which measures radiation doses given to patients.

He won a $1,000 (pound;543) prize for creativity, technological innovation and commercial promise.
