A class of food technology pupils were among 200 cooks who made a giant edible model of London in Trafalgar Square.

The class of Year 10 pupils from Mulberry School for Girls, in Hackney, east London, was one of 14 groups of volunteers from across the city who took part in the Eat London event on Saturday.

The concept was to celebrate London’s architecture, people and cultures by making a giant scale model of the city out of food, which was then eaten by the public.

The teenage cooks worked with an architect, artist, project manager and designer to create their culinary cross-section. Food ranging from quiche to samosas was used to create landmarks, including Buckingham Palace and the London Eye.
