At least pound;110 million will be spent over the next three years to reduce carbon emissions from new and refurbished schools. Alan Johnson, the Education Secretary, said that the Government hoped to make 2,000 secondary schools carbon neutral and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by eight million tons. “Our schools should be an inspiration, standing as environmental beacons,” he said.
