AUSTRIA: Austrian pupils are being called upon to raid their piggy banks and donate their small change to charity before it loses its worth when the Euro is introduced next year. More than 6,000 schools are involved in Austria’s lagest-ever coin collection, which will raise money for disabled and needy children. Minister for education, Elisabeth Gehrer, said: “This appeal will also prepare the children for conversion to the Euro.”
