ProShare also organises the Forecast Challenge and a Young Business Writer of the Year competition. Both are open to 14 to 18-year-olds. Entrants for the first competition are given a selection of companies and the task of forecasting the share price on a given day in the future. The first forecast has to be submitted between October 1 and October 31. The Young Business Writer of the Year competition tests a student’s skills in research and writing. Entrants have to write a 1,500 to 2,000 word article for a business magazine. This year’s subject is: “Would joining the Euro be a good move for all UK businesses?”. The essay has to be submitted by December 19.

Also available is a free Schools’ Resource Pack with activity sheets and teacher’s handbook. It covers elements of the personal finance and financial literacy topics of citizenship, related subjects in the 14 to 18 curricula and more complex investment and finance issues within core business studies courses.
