Glasgow College of Food Technology is running a one-day course for teachers of Higher and Advanced Higher chemistry that looks at the role of chemists in the food industry.

Participants will try out curriculum-related experiments that can be replicated in the classroom, such as analysis of food nutrients, making a food and testing its chemistry.

The course also aims to develop links between schools and the college and will provide information about courses and career opportunities for pupils who are interested in the subject.

The course costs pound;90. Booking forms can be downloaded from www.strath.ac.ukenterprising careersindex.html. Further information is available from Duncan McLaren, tel 0141 950 3758.
