Child crime shown in poll

Half of all children have been a victim of crime or aggression by the time they are 16, according to a survey of 550 11 to 16-year-olds by insurer Norwich Union and crime reduction group Crime Concern.

It also discovered that one in five children knows someone under 16 who carries a knife and that nearly a quarter had been verbally abused by a stranger in the street or been a victim of mobile phone theft. A third had been bullied.
