MORE than 20,000 children contacted the charity, ChildLine, in the past year, an increase of 20 per cent on the previous year. Callers usually had problems with parens and siblings.

In a survey the charity found that less than half of primary children knew the helpline existed, compared to most 11 to 15-year-olds.
