Six children were left behind on a weekly school trip to a swimming pool last week. The pupils, aged eight and nine, from Manadon Vale Primary in Plymouth, had been watching local Olympic diving star Tom Daley practising at Central Park Pool when they realised everyone else had gone and the school coach had left without them. Two members of staff were sent from the school to pick them up. Headteacher Geoffrey Vaughan has sent a letter to the pupils’ homes. “Having spoken to the boys, I believe they were safe and acted responsibly. I sincerely apologise for this situation and will carry out a full investigation with the staff and the pool, and take the appropriate action,” he said.
