The Our Lady’s High exhibition, “Confucius Classroom”, is at Motherwell Heritage Centre, on High Road.

North Lanarkshire Council has an authority-wide Confucius Hub at the school, one of eight in Scotland. It aims to establish a deeper understanding of Chinese culture throughout the area, through calligraphy, kite design, printed textiles and printmaking. The exhibition is the first major display of artworks created by pupils at the hub.

Christine Pollock, the council’s executive director of learning and leisure, said: “The theme of this wonderful display by Our Lady’s High students is `study the past if you would define the future’. It is inspired by this ancient philosophy of Confucius, which is as relevant today as ever.”

The exhibition was created with help from the Centre for Advanced Textiles at Glasgow School of Art and the Glasgow Print Studio.
