The Chinese new year - the Year of the Ox - will be ushered in at celebrations at Liberton High in Edinburgh a week tomorrow.

Attendees will be able to practise their calligraphy and ceramic painting, as well as sampling dim sum and other Chinese delicacies. Schools are being invited to enter the lantern competition, which will be judged on the day.

Entries should be submitted between noon and 2pm to the competition convener, Beverley Guild, in the main hall of Liberton High. Those interested should contact the organising chairperson, Hui McCulloch by Sunday. E: fredanghh@yahoo.co.uk.
