A teenager worried about doing badly in GCSE examinations has written to a local newspaper offering to do chores in return for extra tuition. Becky Bates, 15, of Norwich, wrote to the Norwich Evening News asking if a retired teacher would give her extra lessons because, she claimed, disruptive classmates were ruining her education.
She also claimed staff at the Hewett school, in Norwich, which has not commented on the story, focused on brighter students.
