Zoom in on National Photography Month
The UK’s first National Photography Month (June 2012) celebrates the value of photographs as historical records with the launch of a photographic archive project for secondary schools: My School in Focus.
What is it?
A free resource pack that encourages schools to preserve a physical record of their site and local area by getting pupils to take photographs. The guidebook includes sections on:
preparing for your photography workshop;
advice on cameras and equipment;
ideas for using images around the school;
photographic techniques and concepts.
Schools are encouraged to get pupils to curate their own exhibition, displaying their personal histories to an audience and celebrating their project work.
