EDUCATION Secretary Charles Clarke will have a chance to defend his views on medieval history next week when he faces teachers and leading historians at the Prince of Wales's summer school for English and history teachers. He ran into trouble when he was reported to have been dismissive of medievalists in a speech at University College, Worcester - comments he denies ever having made. He is also expected to speak about the national review of history teaching.
