LEARNING is good for your health, according to new research.
The Institute for Employment Studies found older people engaged in learning felt better about themselves and their health, tended to lead an active life and were more self-confident.
Malcolm Wicks, minister forlifelong learning, announced the new research at the launch of the hunt to find Britain’s oldest learner.
He said: “Retirement can last 20 or 30 years and I want to encourage people in later life to return to study or to learn something they have always wanted to.”
