Truetube, an alternative to the video website YouTube, allows children to upload clips of themselves discussing social dilemmas and performing charitable acts, raising money or taking part in community projects, rather than pranks.

From questions such as “Would you rather be beautiful or clever?” and “Does Pete Doherty (below) have a duty to behave?”, the site covers everything from philosophy to popular culture.

Viewers can see interviews with a Death Row prisoner, former Iraq war hostage Norman Kember, and the best friend of a teenaage murder victim.

“This is an excellent free resource for PSHE and citizenship, with content presented in an up-to-the-minute format,” said a spokesman for the site’s makers, the independent production company CTVC.
