MOST people dread the arrival of their quarterly electricity bills - and for some London colleges it has proved to be a bit of a shock, writes Ngaio Crequer.

But a pleasurable one. Because this month, tucked away in the London Electricity envelope was yet another of one of those glossy brochures - the ones you bin while reeling from the figures in the bill.

The London region of the Associationof Colleges had the sparky idea of advertising their website londoncolleges.com in the glossy.

The website includes a guide to courses on offer in the London region.

In the first week of August they had 35,777 hits, more than in the whole of the previous month.

London Electricity made no charge, and now the 46-strong London group is looking for other utilities to sponsor them.
