Combating violence

Heads are demanding greater powers to deal with disruptive and violent pupils. Responding to Government proposals to combat the problem, the National Association of Headteachers has called for the right to exclude pupils indefinitely and to refuse to admit pupils who have been excluded from other schools.

The NAHT also wants to allow schools to detain pupils against the parents wishes and to exclude pupils of parents who have used or threatened violence.
