It’s official. Government spending on ICT in schools since 1997 has had a significant impact, according to Ofsted (news, page 5). And while the overall picture is positive, the weaknesses pointed out are serious, particularly the gap between the schools who are embedding ICT and those who are struggling. One obvious way to take ICT forward is to exploit creativity in the classroom, which is why that is the special focus of this Online (pages 12-19 with other supporting articles). There is now a body of expertise among teachers on which to draw. And you can discover much of this on the free CD-Rom with this issue. To back this up we are offering free training from the excellent DV in Education website where you will find a whole raft of quality free materials. Just follow the advice from Dorothy Walker (page 36). And if that is not enough, in this week’s TES Teacher magazine you can win a superb Digital Creativity Suite from Apple, everything you need for creative classroom work. Teacher also has a full account of the making of the national award-winning animation Earl Saves The World by Cookstown School, Northern Ireland. We’ve done our best to help bring some creativity to your classrooms. Now it’s down to you. Enjoy.
