Jad Adams in reviewing Enemy Within . . . The Rise and Fall of the British Communist Party (TES April 7) states that in 1991 the party was wound up.

While this was true as regards the Communist Party of Great Britain, some three years previously a special re-establishment congress was held, out of which was formed the Communist Party of Britain.

A number of communists were alarmed at the bludgeoning approach by the former executive of the Communist Party of Great Britain.

The Communist Party of Britain remains active in, among other things demonstrating against cuts in education.
