The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) is giving away a top prize of pound;50,000 worth of building work in a new national design competition that invites 11 to 14-year-olds and their teachers in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to submit proposals for a construction project to improve their school environment. The winners will see their design become a reality, with work starting on the project in summer 2004.

Regional winners will receive pound;3,000 towards improving their school.

The competition comes with design and technology curriculum support materials, which will be available at the beginning of the autumn term.

Schools can register now for the competition and resources. The deadline for submissions is April 2, 2004.
