* Your primary school’s proposal to upgrade its grounds or to assess a local stream for pollution could win an award of up to pound;1,000 through the Abbey National Helping Hands Programme. The community partnership scheme, in which pupils undertake audits of their local community and submit improvement schemes, runs over the summer and autumn terms and supports key stage 2 work and the 5-14 environmental studies curriculum in Scotland. Regional prizes of up to pound;500 will go to the most interesting, and each winning school will compete in a national final for a top prize of pound;1,000.
