Croydon College, in conjunction with the BBC’s “Computers don’t bite” campaign, is inviting adults to take part in its free IT taster sessions using the BBC’s new CD Rom. There will also be an introduction to e-mail and the Internet. Bookings: College Information Centre, 0181 760 5914.

STARTING JUNE 8: OFSTED INSPECTIONS: CAREERS EDUCATION

Starting in York and subsequently taking place in London (November) and Birmingham (February), these seminars are designed to help schools prepare for the careers education aspect of inspections. They will be led by trained Office for Standards in Education team inspector, Anthony Barnes, and Cynthia Watson of the Guidance Enterprises Group. In-service training courses at the Institute of Education, 20 Bedford Way, London WC1, include: data handling with spreadsheets, June 9; maths with graphics calculators, June 11; computer geometry, June 23; maths with computer algebra (key stage 4 and post-16), June 26; proof and reasoning, June 30; maths with graphics calculators (FX9700), July 3; and writing mathematical investigational reports, July 8.
