Creativity returns to the frame

(Photograph) - LOOKING forward: Moves to allow primary children more freedom to be creative were announced this week.

Education Secretary Charles Clarke said schools could set their own targets for 11-year-olds and announced the trial of a simplified testing system for seven-year-olds.

The primary strategy follows warnings from the Office for Standards in Education, academics and heads that the humanities and arts were being squeezed from the primary curriculum by the emphasis on English and maths.
