It will be held at Fettes College from August 7-11 and will give players aged 17-21 elite coaching to prepare them more fully for international competition. There are places for 24 players - 12 from Scotland and six each from Ireland and the Netherlands.
“This academy will allow those players exposed to the academy experience to take what they learn back to their clubs and make them better equipped to help grow the game,” explained Richard Holdsworth, regional development manager for the International Cricket Council.
Hamish Locke, a 17-year-old pupil at Merchiston Castle in Edinburgh, scored what is believed to be the fastest double century in schools’ cricket when he hit 205 not out in a match against Loretto. He took just 35 overs to record his score which included 10 sixes and 27 fours.
