Cricket Scotland has signed a sponsorship deal with the soft drinks company Barrs. It will support kwik cricket coaching sessions in primary schools and Irn-Bru becomes the 2006 official soft drink of the Scottish game. Barrs is also promoting new non-carbonated drinks to encourage a healthy lifestyle.

Cricket Scotland’s 10 development officers are busier than ever, says Andy Tennant, the new head of education and development. “Clubs are saying they’ve never had so many unsolicited winter enquiries from parents anxious to enrol kids for the new season.”
