Cricket Scotland was recognised for its achievement in getting young players involved in the sport and awarded for the best overall cricket development programme in Europe at a ceremony at Lord’s. The award was for its work with Lloyds TSB, which sponsors its youth programme.

The award for the best junior programme in Europe went to Finland, not a country normally associated with the sport.

Scotland’s under-12 team will play in the London Schools’ Festival in Ampleforth on July 30-31. First it hopes to play two warm-up matches against Northumberland, home and away on July 12 and July 19 respectively.
