A 10-point plan to tackle the causes of youth crime has been unveiled by the National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders. Entitled Getting Serious About Youth Crime, the plan is billed as a strategy for the incoming government to consider.
The initiatives include a fundamental reshaping of the youth justice process, education reforms, help for parents, and schemes to alleviate anti-social behaviour.
Heavy emphasis is placed on helping schools to tackle truancy, reduce exclusions, emphasise personal and social education and providing nursery education for all three and four year-olds.
