Cool crooks, it seems, have been quick to see the black market value of these magic lanterns of the digital age, that can project a Michael Owen hat-trick onto a wall or make Grand Theft Auto even more breathtaking.
Of course, we should be concerned about serious larceny that is costing the taxpayer dearly. The Government has wisely invested billions in making schools centres of high-tech learning, but has been rather slow to help them improve their security systems - and so protect its investment. But let's be honest. The real story here is that, for the first time in ages, schools are places worth breaking into. That is some achievement.
