The Scottish Storytelling Centre’s Burnsfest programme is underway with a series of braw events.

Highlights include two storytelling theatre experiences which explore Burns’s socially cohesive effect and rediscover his radical spirit through his more infamous works: “Oor Rabbie”, a family story-telling show from Andy Cannon and Wendy Weatherby, takes place on January 22 and 23; and “Burns: The Video Diary”, a new adaptation by Donald Smith based on his controversial novel Between Ourselves, is held on February 6 and examines the wilder side of the Bard, combining film, theatre and audience debate.

“Oor Rabbie”, by Foolish Notion, is an introduction, or refresher, to the life and work of Robert Burns, for anyone aged eight and above, through live music, participation and storytelling.

Another event, Cafe Ceilidh: Burns, on February 2, is an afternoon of music and song, presented by Linten Adie and friends from the Scots Music Group.
