Spotify spreads the free love
Music streaming website Spotify is to return to offering a free service to all new users. The popular site, which has a library of more than eight million tracks and is widely used as a teaching resource, has typically offered a premium service without adverts for subscribers and a free version with adverts by invitation only. Now it has announced that all new users will be able to stream up to 20 hours of free music a month, although this still comes with adverts. The company has also introduced Spotify Unlimited, with no time restriction and no adverts, for #163;5 a month.
Investigate Ofsted’s big ICT ideas
A one-day course is to look at the implications of Ofsted’s new ICT inspection framework, helping schools respond to new emphases in classroom practice, changes to the pre-inspection briefing and self-evaluation form, e-safety and data security, and tracking achievement. It is targeted at local authority advisers and consultants, who would then set up their own versions for school ICT leaders, and is organised by Naace, the professional association for ICT teachers. Puttnam leads learning lecture
Oscar-winning film producer David Puttnam is one of the keynote speakers at the Worcestershire Learning Technologies Conference later this month. Lord Puttnam will be joined on the platform by Sugata Mitra, professor of educational technology at Newcastle University. The conference is for senior school managers, local authority advisers and ICT consultants, and takes place in the Chateau Impney in Droitwich, Worcestershire, on Tuesday, June 22.
