Curriculum review

The very existence of the national curriculum is to be reviewed under an inquiry announced this week by the Commons’ children, schools and families committee. The MPs said they would consider “arguments for and against having a national curriculum and what the purpose of a national curriculum should be”. They will also look into the role of teachers in any future curriculum development, the impact of testing, personalised learning and new progress tests, and the effectiveness of national strategies in supporting the curriculum. The deadline for written submissions is March 17.
