The number of dads reading with their children has increased by 40 per cent in a year, new research shows. A survey, by Booktrust, also found 60 per cent of children like to share a book with their parents, and households with girls have more books. One in every 20 family homes in the UK has fewer than 10 books. Almost 60 per cent of parents said their child spends more time playing computer games or watching DVDs than reading. Those with girls were twice as likely to read with them.
