* The Kirov is to give a master ballet class during its London season at the Coliseum. The class, on Sunday July 30, will demonstrate the company’s barre work before moving on to excerpts from its visiting repertoire which include La Bayadere, Swan Lake, Le Corsaire and Scheherazade. It is being held in aid of children with HIV and Aids in Russia. Tickets Pounds 7.50 to Pounds 15. Box office: 0171 632 8300.

* Ballroom Blitz’s dance education extravaganza at London’s Royal Festival Hall this summer has dance styles and related disciplines for almost any interest.

The first day, July 30, offers clogging, tabla, sword-dancing, 18th century European court and ceilidh for eight and over. The following day features Common Ground Sign Dance Theatre (puppets and Salsa for 13 and over) and workshops with Tai chi, Feldenkrais and Capoeira.

On other days English National Ballet has an introduction to ballet for eight to 12s and there is also Chinese dance, video and computer animation, a focus on young choreographers and how to tackle a television audition, flamenco, fan and castanet-making and Labanotation workshops and lectures.
