Dark past ignored;Letter

AS A socialist historian I have no objection at all to the dates and facts of British history being taught in schools. I also agree with Christopher Lee that there are some great historical stories to engage the attention of pupils.

I do wonder however if the account of British history to be found in This Sceptred Isle is what is needed in the wake of the Macpherson Report. There are important stories to be told about the slave trade and British colonialism.
