De Gruchy successor

EAMONN O'Kane will succeed Nigel de Gruchy as leader of Britain's second-largest teaching union. Mr O'Kane, deputy general secretary of the National Union of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers, ws appointed by its national executive last week. He will work with Mr de Gruchy and take over the pound;72,000-a-year position when the 57-year-old steps down after the Easter 2002 conference.
