Dead languages beat live subjects in EBac madness

We would like to reassure schools and other education professionals that Ofsted inspections continue to follow the current published framework.

Suggestions that we have moved to judgments based on the new EBac are simply untrue (Letters, January 21). We are puzzled by Jonathan Barnes’s concerns about an “imminent” inspection at a school in Walthamstow and would invite him to contact us so we can clarify the situation and put his mind at rest.

Any changes of emphasis or new performance measures will be considered as part of the development of a revised framework, for which there will be a full consultation.

Susan Gregory, National director, inspection delivery, HMI.
