A poster created by deaf children to mark Deaf Awareness Week has been given to every school in Wales. Entitled “Get Deaf Aware”, the poster, published by the National Deaf Children’s Society, features drawings and tips from children and young people explaining the things they want people to know about deafness. Figures show that 99 per cent of deaf children in Wales are taught in mainstream settings, and that 80 per cent of children will experience some temporary hearing loss before the age of ten.
