Gavin McCrone is everywhere these days. The academic whose committee of inquiry paved the way for the teachers’ agreement was in the news again the other week, this time calling for changes in the way the Treasury allocates cash to Scotland. In case nobody had ever heard of him, it was explained that in 2001 McCrone “tackled the teaching crisis, negotiating a pound;2.15 billion deal for teachers”. What a guy.
This will come as news to Jack McConnell, Ronnie Smith and Danny McCafferty, the leaders of the sides in the talks, who cut the deal.
