The Trades Union Congress is inviting us to believe that the “exploitation”
of debt-laden university students who are forced to find low-paid jobs in their spare time is hitting the working classes.
The TUC’s blurb states “Some 55 per cent of young people from managerial and professional backgrounds work, but the figure rises to 61 per cent for those from manual backgrounds.”
Hardly an overwhelming difference, but I’m sure ministers will be delighted to see the TUC clutching at straws in its long-lost battle against tuition fees.
